Guys, I need help. I am looking for a K&N generation 2 for the 2000, 150, 5.4. Nobody can tell me if it is the same as the 1999. They claim they do not have a number for the 2000.

I'm waiting on this info too. The way I understand it, the just haven't filed the paperwork to legally add the 2000 to be included in the current CARB exemption number. My guess is that it will end up being exactly the same kit and realistically you could use it right now with no problems, but it legally will flunk an inspection. Politics, ain't life grand...........

I had a similar question. But I just went ahead and bought the '99 filter. Fits fine. I kept my original filter so I can always throw it back in if I need to.
I know I have a year until my inspection, it should be approved by then.

It is the same as the 99 model , and unless yuo live in state that does the inspection like Ca, you wont have a problem, msot wont even bother to check it. Unless youmake it know to them ie... huge k&n stickers plastered under the hood. if if passes the visual , and the tail pipe you wont have a problem. they look for no cat'sor somthing along thosse lines. I ordered the one for a 99 it fit no problems

I too have a 2000 with the 4.2.I wrote to K&N since none of the local parts stores had listings for 2000 or the 99.They told me it was the same filter for the 98,thats used for the 99 and 2000,I put it in and it fit perfectly...Personally I haven't noticed any significant change at all.

I have the 2000 Lariat 5.4 Liter and have the K&N Filter.... bought it here in the online store. It was listed as a 97-99. As BLUE2K and Steve g. stated, it fits just fine with no problems.

Honestly..I have not noticed much of an increase at all..however..I do not always drive with a 'soft foot'.

The K&N filter I have in my 2000 was originally in my 98 5.4L...it only had 1,500 miles on it..and it was extremely clean (like new in fact)...it fit perfectly in the new truck.
