Cool They're not so great....

I got a surprise just last night...lined up with a 99+ Chevy Silverado 1500, extended cab, short bed 4x2, not sure which motor, but one of the V8s...And I beat him by about a truck length. I'm not even running one of the newer trucks, I've got a 95 F150 4x4 regular cab long bed, with the 351. Only performance mod is a custom built 3 inch exhaust with a flowmaster 50 series. He had some kind of dual exhaust setup on his truck.

Oh yeah, there were 4 people crammed in my truck (one was even a fat chick) and he was alone so I was haulin some extra weight

They might be a little faster than our FORD's but in the long run the FORD will out last the Chevy engine while thiers is in the shop getting fixed you be out riding around.

wish Ford would step it up

yes, stock for stock, motor for motor, a 5.3 chevy will pretty much embarrass one of our 5.4's....there are TOO many of them around here and my little 4.6 has trouble keeping up, but thats where brains kick in and i would say that someone who drives a Ford probably has a few more neurons kicking up there......just mod it up and spank their A. someone was talking about a 99 chevy before.....BAD YEAR...every 5.3 chevy i have seen from 99 was a total piece of crap. so dont let that year deceive you...the 5.3's are some bad mothers, a guy with a 5.3 in town has the same mods as me, and runs 14.40....i cant even approach that, i mean, why even waste the gas...not to mention giving up about 60 cubes to him...another guy in town with a bone stock 2001 5.3 runs 15.10....havent seen any Fords in that range, i mean stock you know, NEAL i wasnt including you in that...HAHA

my advice, until you slap on a good $1000 worth of stuff, stay away from a 5.3.
