4.2 FINALLY Supercharged (was not fun)
98f150, I was rather a bit confused over your half-baked apology. The one thing that has always amazed me about this site is how people make the most of their trucks. The dedication to the vehicles is not based on whether or not it has a 4.2, 5.0, 5.4, 4.6, or any of the other engines and combinations displayed. The dedication at this site is simply to the enjoyment of owning a vehicle. The creativity shown is phenomenal, and I have received nothing but help from every one on board. Perhaps you should take that into consideration before stating your rather overblown opinions.
Keep on XanMan, if I had the money I would supercharge my riding lawn mower!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone,
I want to thank you all for your support and I just wanted to keep you all up to date.I will be taking my truck to Superchips on Feb. 7th and they are going to run it on the dyno and program it right on the spot (sounds like fun!) I can't wait I'm counting down the days til I can run it wide open!!!
I've put 1,200 miles on it so far and no problems at all. I'm still pleased with the added power but I think I'll be putting on the 9psi pulley in about a month or so.But first I'm going to put on the gears to see if that fills the need, for now.

So you have a supercharged lawnmower. Hmmmm...what about your truck? Don't you want to save that 5 minutes elsewhere too?

A cryptic, if not so interesting response '98.
XanMan, Looking forward to hearing about your experience with superchips. Those guys have a great reputation on the boards, not too mention, how well they respond to our questions. They go above and beyond normal customer service, wouldn't you agree?

Congrats one the one-off install, that took some serious dedication, not to mention real guts!
Anyways, my question was that I have the V-6 also, and everyone keeps talking about the sixes having blown head gasket problems, do you think this would only make the problem worse? Just wondering, because the supercharged V-6 sounds great, but I thought this might be a potential problem...
Thanks,
Chris

Joshman,
I will do that when I get from Florida.I still have to take some final pictures.I am leaving on Feb. 3rd. and returning Feb. 10th. Thank you for the offer
FordMX,
I don't think I will have any problems blowing the head gaskets because a performance company (I don't remember the name. it was six months ago) Was supercharging the 3.8 mustang and it kept on blowing heads so they used the heads off the 4.2 F150 and no more problems. I think our trucks are built a little stouter anyway.Just my .02 .But regarding the truck head gaskets I hope Ford fixed the cast iron to aluminum problem
As for supercharging I would GO FOR IT!! The truck responds great to it.
I have almost 4,000 miles on it with no problems at all!

Hey XMan,
Sounds like a great job on the SC. Bet you will really surprise a lot of people who notice that you don't have the triton emplems on there.
One thing though, did you change the fuel pump? It's something you might want to consider because the last thing you want to happen is to have the fuel get too lean because of the powerdyne.
I have the 4.6 and am planning on supercharging in the future. Think I will go with either the roots type or the the procharger centrifical since it has an aftercooler in the kit.
Good luck

Joshman,
I live in North Carolina now but I am a Florida native. I am going back to go to Superchips on Feb. 7th they are right outside Orlando. If you want to come and see the truck I will be there from 7:30 til closing. Oh by the way I moved from West Palm Beach.
Chris Thomas,
Your right I may have to adress the fuel pump soon but I'm running the same rail pressure so there may not be any problems I hope
The way I increased the fuel amount is by changing the fuel injectors to 24psi. so I can get more fuel without changing fuel pressure.
The Pro Charger is a GREAT setup that was my first choice but they did't want to work with me just because they didn't offer the *EXACT* kit. I told them that all I needed was the head and pulleys and that was to much to ask I guess. But I have all the product history and they have the best SC as far as I'm concerned just my .02
Right now I'm working on a nitrogen inner cooler ( wich is 391 degrees below 0 )it's not there yet but its close. I want to get the intake air temp. down to 0 or colder without condensation.

XanMan
I've been following your exploits to supercharge your F150 4.2L. Congrats. While I myself have been trying to get info on a 351W swap into my 4.2L. With no sucess to date, you've convinced me that supercharging a 4.2L would be easier and less expensive and "What a Sleeper"!!
I understand that you're leaving Feb.3rd for Fla. to go to SuperChips. If you are taking I-75 I only live 18 miles off it at Fort White Exit. I'd love to talk to you either on the way down or back up and show you mine (work in progress) if you show me your's.(TRUCK THAT IS!!).
If you can make it E-mail @: DWRella@webtv.net and I'll give you my phone number.
Thanks videoman
