01 F150 4.6 engine swap with 08.CVPI. Help Please.

Hello all and Happy holidays,
I have a 01 F150 XLT that needs a motor , I was lucky ( I hope) to find a 08 Crown Vic PI that had been T-boned at 40k miles. Now my question is what needs to be addressed in the swapping of these engines. I know we need to swap intakes, oil pan and dip stick but I am sure I am missing much more !! Please advise ..
Thank you,
J

The best way would be to sit them side by side and change what needs to be changed.

I was hoping if someone had done this before I would have a list and not forget anything. Learn from others experience so I do not have any issues afterwords.
Thanks.

The Crown Victoria police engine wise is nothing fancy. You'll need to swap intakes possibly oil filter relocation stuff. Possibly pulleys possibly oil pan. All easy stuff. Dont get excited about the engine being high performance because it is not.

Intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, oil pan,oil filter adapter, (truck coolant inlet at oil adapter and outlet gooseneck is larger diameter than the car),and front cover makes it easier. A few small things here and there but overall an easy swap. The police cars had higher speed rated tires and the ECM would not cut the fuel injectors out to control top speed. That's about the only difference except dual exhaust that added around 10 more hp.

I thought they got stiffer shocks and bigger brake pads to. When I order brake parts or shocks for my vic there is always a police/taxi option

I guess they probably did as there were various options available in the police pkg, different states for example may have different needs. I was just kind of looking at the engine as that's what he was working with.

AC and flex plate

Can you tell me if the 2001 4.6 and the 2008 4.6 have the same ac compressor set up. I was also told that I need the flexplate swap is that true?
Does anybody know where I can get a reasonably priced gasket set kit. Thank you in advance.

OK heres my idea , I want to take the exhaust and make the truck dual exhaust. The crown vic pipe will work correct ? Just add a few hangers. Now I live in SC so I could cut out the cats and get get some better gas mileage and few horses.. Any thoughts that this will work correctly.I know I will have a check engine light due to 02sensors.
Thank you ,
J

I'm pretty sure the piping routes differently and it shorter by quite a bit as well. You could make it work if you want to hack enough, though.

As for gutting for power and MPGs, not gonna' happen. Factory exhausts these days are pretty well tuned. Short of 8000 RPM drag races, you're not gaining anything nor are you anywhere near outflowing the factory stuff.

Swapping CVPI pipes on my F150

Well I could add some long pipe and have dual , I have a few friends who swapped out for CVPI pipes cut out the cats and have had better mileage.. As for Ford doing whats right all the time WELL!!!! The cats gone will give a little horsepower according the research Ive done . I am asking if anyone else has done this and had an issue attaching the new exhaust. My buddies did not do their own work so I can`t ask them !

Te CV exhaust system is totally incompatible. Might be able to use the mufflers if you exited out the sides. cant use the x drive line gets in the way. The spare tire gets in the way of doing true duals all the way out the back on both sides. Generally they exit them out the passenger side on these trucks. You can fab up what every works. Your truck!
