helicoil mess on a 2002 v8 5.4...what to do...
looks like i need m14 x 1.25
i checked the head and it not a romeo...which i think means i just need to tap the thread and dont need the counter bore piece in the 5553 kit. lol do I chance it to save a few bucks? anyone know for sure?
$389 for one time use is a pill to swallow, nothings ever easy...

I had the ford dealer fix one of my plug threads, paid about $1,500. I'm due for spark plug change but been terrified to do it. Same dealer quoted $350 to change plugs... I need a new dealer
Look at it this way:
a) it's broken
b) it needs to be fixed
c) $400.00 is still cheaper than yanking the head and taking it to either a machine shop or replacing it with a new one.
Still sucks you have to do it though.
Good luck.

I tried sending him a pm and email...no response yet....
Give him some time as long as you don't have to get it back on the road immediately.
If you have to drive it, just leave the hole open and unplug the injector. It will sound like hell but it will run on 7 cylinders for local use.
