helicoil mess on a 2002 v8 5.4...what to do...

My #4 plug had a helicoil on it when i removed it to change the plugs at 142k miles...didnt know until we removed it. I tried putting a new helicoil on a new spark plug and putting it back in the same hole but its letting air/combustion happen beyond the plug and already blew up a coil and the side of a plug. I got the new helicoil out and tried to put the old plug back in since i thought maybe it would fill the hole...but its leaking air/combustion too.
At this point ive read about the time sert kits and big sert kits and even had the ford dealership attempt to do it but they told me the hole i have is now oblong and they will not attempt anything as it calls for a head replacement...(im confused how its oblong now and no one tapped anything and the time sert kit has a guide on it keep it straight i believe...)

So far i cant even find a mechanic wanting to do the head swap/replacement/machine shop...too much work it seems for all the mom and pop guys...only dealership would touch it and told me a new motor would only be a few bucks more and a better bet!!

Now Im not sure what to do...maybe even thread the old plug back in and try to seal the leak with something...it hasnt blown the plug out..just lets combustion escape and the coil boots starts melting...id be lucky if i drove it 2500 miles a year

any thoughts?

now that I think about it I recall Galaxy was leaving the country! Air force I guess.. I have the regular size kit but am not set up for being able to rent and I'm pretty sure you need the big sert. where about do you live? You could check your dealer and see what they say..

The dealer just wants the more expensive way out. They can make the most that way. Some dealers wont even use inserts. I think the repair can still be made with a bigsert. Then again I havent seen it.

Located in upstate ny.

Dealer said they tried their insert to no avail but they wouldn't use the term time sert. Said its in a box from ford...but when talking to them it sounded the same ...anyways I asked about the big sert and they said they don't have the tool nor would they buy it.

Is that one from amazon what I need?

No you need to contact the first link I posted and get the correct part number from TIMESERT. Then you can search for it. Do not buy that kit without contacting timesert!

Here's what I would do.. I would contact "Mechanics tools and bits" and explain the situation. Tell them its a 1 time thing your hoping and you had the heilicoil and all need the big insert and paying $400 for the kit is not an option. THEY HAVE CHEAPER KITS that are made by timesert same inserts and all just not quite as fancy ask about renting from them to. I bought my inserts from them. Got my kit used for $150 but its available new for less then $200. Timesert wants to sell you the most expensive kit.. I'm sure there is an available option for around half what that kit sells for you just gotta find it..

i checked the head and it not a romeo...which i think means i just need to tap the thread and dont need the counter bore piece in the 5553 kit. lol do I chance it to save a few bucks? anyone know for sure?

$389 for one time use is a pill to swallow, nothings ever easy...
