lack of power

I have a '99 with 4.6 and 171k...had it since '01, had 20k when I bought it. Problem is when it hits about 2200 rpm, it seems like it loses power, and then when it gets to 3000rpm, seems like normal power of then. Is there a problem or is it just something I'm gonna have to live with?

Oil changes, spark plugs, wires, air filter, trans oil change, new brake pads, rotors, wheel bearings, new alternator, new starter (I know how to do more than add gas smart ***), clean tubes in throttle body that go to egr valve.. get the picture?...lol

Seems like it should be pulling hard at 2200 rpm. Has it always been that way? If so I'd recommend a program. I bought a used Superchip program from the classfieds on this site for my 5.4L and I'm very happy with the improved throttle response, hp, and gas mileage. It made a big difference in throttle response and hp. My 02 truck did not respond as well as the 00 I used to have. The Superchip program changed all that.

is the truck throwing any codes?
what spark plugs?
what are they gapped to?
is your manifold equipped with an IMRC? if so electric or vacuum? if so is it operating properly? or is it 'sticking" causing the "dead spot" in the power band?
is the transmission slipping? is possibly a torque converter issue

whatever you do, DO NOT PURCHASE A CANNED TUNING DEVICE

No codes, last one was p0401, and I cleaned tb tubes that go egr valve...i use only motorcraft spark plugs gapped to specs as far as IMRC, well u got me on that one, not sure...as far as the trans goes, its due for a service but other than that works great.. also what is a "canned tuning device"?

when you clean the MAF, go ahead and reset the adaptive learning strategy on the ECM

K&N doesn't make air filters. They're all oiled and now, so is your MAF.
