04 4.6L Crown Vic Engine Going Into 03 F150??
04 4.6L Crown Vic Engine Going Into 03 F150??
I need some help with exactly what I am going to need to successfully install Crown Vic engine in my F150. Recently my engine took a **** in my 03 F150 4.6L W romero engine. I bought a 04 Crown Vic 4.6L W romero engine long block. I need help with what I am going to need. I have tried looking everywhere online but everything refers to later models doing it. I have friends that are certified mechanics that are helping me do it but they have never done this so they don't know what I need. I will be doing this next weekend, so if anybody can help me out I would really appreciate it.
Easy swap since both are power improved.
Install the truck intake manifold on the CV engine. You can also install the truck front cover on the CV if you want, the truck oil filter adapter, oil pan and oil pickup tube and dipstick with tube, exhaust manifolds, flex plate, and all truck vac lines and wire harness, truck FEAD components swap directly over as well. Its a direct swap of truck parts to Crown Vic long block. If your exhaust manifold studs and manifolds are rusted bad then change them now while the heads are off.
Enjoy the swap its an easy one. Good luck.

Yes. No.
I've done a few of these swaps between Crown Vics, Explorers, and F-150s. Like Dynotech said, strip it down to the long block and swap everything over. It is that easy.
At least the crank seals, coolant pipe o-rings, and spark plugs. If you want to go deeper, this would be an easy time to throw some new head gaskets and valve guide seals in. If you do that, don't forget to buy new head bolts also. They're torque-to-yeild (one-time use).
And while you have the throttle body off, take a few minutes and clean the EGR port with a pick and some carb cleaner. They get really cruddy and when clogged, will throw a check engine code.
