Improve fuel economy?

Hey guys,

I just bought my first f150!

I just started my own landscaping company and was in need of a truck. I bought an 89 F150 with the 5.8L V8 under the hood. Now I know that I will never have good fuel economy, but is there any modern day upgrades that people are doing to these trucks to make them burn a little less fuel?

I am a collage student and this is my first business venture, so I need to save money where I can. This truck will be driven a lot.

I just did:
Distributer cap, wires, plugs, O2 sensor, new air filter, upper intake manifold gasket.

Any advice (other than watch my acceleration) would be nice.

Thanks.

Haha all good. I'm not sure then. There are a few guys who are good with the pushrods. Try messaging Steve83 (I think that's his name)

Probably get more responses if this was moved to the pre-97 forum.

No gimmick is going to fix the fact your pushing 5000 pounds of truck around. Add to that its nearly 25 years old.. You'll be doing very well to get 13 mpg out of it.
