99 F150 4.6L Passenger Side Oil Leak?

99 F150 4.6L with 195K miles
I have an oil leak coming from the top, back, passengerside of my block running on transmission bellhousing leaking down the side of the transmission, running down my stater, then down my A arms. I smell the burnt oil all the time. Its so bad that loose a quart a week. Its not a valve cover gasket, for sure. I really need some help on this, I haven't been able to find it anywhere. If anybody has any pictures, knowledge and would be willing to help. Must appreciated, Thanks

Well, here's the backside of a 4.6L, sans intake manifold.

I don't really see any oil passages here that could be leaking as you describe. Have you performed or had any work done back there? The valve covers on these are plastic so there is a possibility that it was hit and cracked or even knocked a piece out completely.

i also was thinking valve covers... my cougar had a valve cover gasket go out and poured oil out of the top. Try feeling around behind the motor and see if you can feel the exact spot of leaking.

The passengerside rear of the engine has the high pressure oil passage from the block to the cyl head. The passage is close to the rear of the cyl head and block. If you have overheated it's common for the cyl head to slightly warp at the rear and allow the pressurized oil to leak in that area. Sometimes the head gasket will go bad as well and allow a leak from the same passage even without an overheat event.
There are also a couple of small 8mm plugs that block cyl head oil passages at the rear of the cyl head that can allow an oil leak but its rare.
The fact that you are leaking a lot of oil I would suspect the high pressure hole area at the rear of the head and block where the two mate with the head gasket. If this what you find then a new head gasket will be in order. I have seen a few of these fixed by removing the cam cover and torquing the last four cyl head bolts another 90 degs. If you try this beware that you could break a headbolt off as well. Unlikely but possible....good luck.
