further damage to f150?
further damage to f150?
I have 2002 4.6 2wd, just drove four hours out of state and noticed truck lurching while going uphill. First time i have had any problem with this. Believe it's probably a coil on plug problem. Is there risk in further damaging my truck by driving it home tommorow and then having it fixed, or should i not drive it home. Really need to get it home, but if i will screw up something else, i'll have to make other arrangements. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Hard to say it depends what the real problem is. I would try and find out what is going on first as 4 hours is quite a trip home. I doubt much will be open on Easter Sunday. If it's only while driving up a hill a miss shouldn't do damage but...? Could be a fuel filter or sparkplug as well. Stop tonight at a Auto Zone or equivalent and see if you have any codes. A code will tell you which cyl then just replace the coil if its bad and check the sparkplug. Good luck.

If you have a solid misfire it will have the code stored for that cylinder. if it a low grade misfire it may not tell you what cylinder. If its a solid miss I would get the code read like Dynotech said and if its me and I have minimal or no tools I would just unplug the injector for that cylinder and drive it home and fix it there. If its a low grade miss an intermittent deal just drive it home.
