weird dipstick problem!!
Another thought is the "O" ring on the dipstick handle portion. Sometimes the "O" will adhere to the inside of the tube and come off the dipstick but remain stuck inside the tube. This could prevent the stick from seating completely into the tube even though it seems like it's down completely because it stops hard after hitting the "O" ring.

hey guys.
iv'e got a strange problem. i have an 04 screw(new style. not heritige.). i checked my oil just a week after i did my last oil change and the dipstick was dry! oil on it when i first pulled it out but when i stuck it back in and pulled it out again, nothing!
now, i know what your thinking. does this idiot know how to read a dipstick?
well the answer is, yes! i took the old girl to walmart just incase it was low from some weird leak and put another quart in. just to be sure i waited an hour when i got home and drained the oil. 6 quarts came out! thats 7 quarts total with the filter! put 6 quarts back in, let it settle, no reading again! put 1/2 in let it rest, got a tiny reading on the stick?! like a millimeter! what the f#%ck?! any ideas guys?
