Post 5.4 Too Much Power???

Hi all, here's what I'm getting:
2000 F-150 Regular Cab 4X4, ORP, 3.73 LS, Short Bed
After reading a few other posts here about rear-wheel slippage, I'm concerned that even with the limited slip axle, the 5.4L on a light-weight regular cab short bed will be too powerful and cause problems with tire spin, especially on wet roads, and especially with the stock Goodyears which I've read are poor tires. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot!

I don't think there's such a thing as too much pwr. I think my rear end gearing is too low with the tow pkg. I've heard it's fairly cheap to change. I also believe the 5.4 will get better mileage because it won't have to work as hard.

Bear: If you punch it on a wet or sandy road, she's gonna spin Just drive a little more carefully in these situations and you'll be fine. Of course if no one is around and you're not about to hit something, punch it and see I've done powered 360's with mine!!

Bear, I can't spin on a flat dry straight shot and they didn't build a lighter truck than mine. The rear end WILL swing out if I punch it in a turn and if the roads are wet forget about being a redlight jockey.

Bear,
If having too much power is really a concern I'll tell ya what we can do. Let me know when you get your new truck and we can just swap engines and computers! Sounds like a winner to me!

bear there's never to much power
was just at the dealers today
looked at the 2000's all the 5.4 orp 4x4 had
3.55's in them and they had the cast alum. rims (99's had the chrome steel wheels)
in 99 the orp 5.4 only came with the 3.73
so can you still get the 3.73 gear?

I thought the 3.73 still comes with the 2000 ORP, but I may be wrong. I'll probably get it anyway because I doubt if there is much of a loss on MPG with the 3.73 versus the 3.55. I'll have 4-wheel drive, but you can't use those darned part-time systems on anything but snow or else you'll burn out the diff. in no time. Do any of y'all use 4-high in rain?
94 F-150: I think I'll pass on that one, LOL!

Cool

I've got the same truck as Raoul. Wouldn't have it any other way. Love the power, no prob's in the rain yet. Very unique, not many reg cab short bed 5.4's around.

Bear!!! Gee what a worry-wort. Don't be so concerned about stuff like that with such a great truck. If'n it were mine (and I wish it was)I would just invest in a better tire. Just so you Know I drove one like that except it was a 4X2 '98 it really had the power!!!!!!!Wheel spin is a given with that engine so just keep yer foot out of it!
