2000 f150 5.4 knocking?
just bought truck and at idle it sounds like a knock in the oil pan, if standing under hood sounds great, but beside it or in fenderwell it sounds like a main knocking, runs great however no lights on, fresh oil 5/30, does have a manifold leak but its not that u can hear that ticking when on the gas, its definately in the pan, any suggestions?

u know how lifter or phaser ticking tapping sound, well this is like a... locka locka locka locka sound more low mellow tone, not like a tick rocker or lifter sound, what gets me is only @ idle, once reved its clear tone thru muffler, as tack comes back down to idle its back, reminds me of torqu converter lil loose sound,. but already checked that, also just changed oil tonight myself m1 5/20 and m1 filter, no diff, still there, however it did seem quiet when 1st started it from that oil change, seemed like once idled down from cold start i could hear it again

2000 rpm up sounds great, just at idle loca loca loca, underneath, open hood sounds fine just hear the fan, its clearly underneath, does have a bad manifold on pass side, but u can hear that when driving it on the gas more of a tick sound, this like a knock in the pan, nothing like these 3v 5.4 u hear, their always a rattling ticking phaser prob, this deep faint knock in pan when idling

It completely goes away when reved above 2k?
I would think a main would get louder with rpms as it has a harder time staying balanced with a flat bearing. If it were a rod bearing or wrist pin, by shutting down that cylinder the sound would/should all but go away. By that, you can do a quick test and unplug each cop one at a time and listen for the sound to go away. Hard to tell in your vid.. Almost sounds like an exhaust leak like jethat has mentioned. They normally are more pronounced when cold clear up a bit when warmed up.
