if ya live by a walmart (cant imagine anyone not living by a walmart) You can buy the motorcraft oil (semi synthetic)and the filter for under 20 bucks.. At least you could 3-4months ago when I bought it there..

Tell your dad this isn't the '20's, this isn't a Model T and he needs to come into the 21st century. Sounds like he'll be ticked no matter what you say, so just tell it like it is... He's dead wrong!

And by the way, that's not a jug of VALVOLINE and 1 qt. of MOTORCRAFT, it's A jug of MOTORCRAFT and 1 qt. of MOTORCRAFT. NOW you can tell your dad to put the oil can down and slowly back away. He'll swear you did something to it when HIS ****amamie oil concoction blows it up. Tell him to put the 15-40 in a diesel where IT belongs, the Lucas in the trash can where IT belongs and the Motorcraft 5-20 in the engine where IT belongs.

Too Thick Oil,

That oil viscaosity is meant for Diesels

The timing chain tensioners are hydraulic, you could lose valve timing.

I know about stubbon Dads, I had one. The best you could do is try to educate him without saying I told you so. Then hope for the best

Good Luck

Personally, - I think one who's set in their ways is more less narrow minded. To bad. But, maybe he just needs to hear it from someone else ? Or something else, - like his engine...

Maybe you should just tell him "I understand that you want to put thicker oil in but this is my truck and I want to do it this way. Id be happy to help you change your oil and put whatever kind of oil you want in your truck but this is mine." You don't have to re educate him just tell him you want to do things your way on your truck since it is yours after all.

I have a stubborn narrow minded father so Ive been through this kind of stuff. He wants to do things his way and I don't always agree with him but that doesn't mean we can't get along. But if he thinks its his way or the highway when he helps me work on my truck he is going to be informed otherwise, respectfully ofcourse.
