5.4 '04 f-150 Throttle body problem?

I installed an Air Raid cold air intake. Got that throaty growl on acceleration...great. I then purchased an Edge programmer (wanted to improve towing performance) and that made a difference. I did however have to clean my throttle body. Lately in the low end of 4th and overdrive, I am getting a doggy as hell sound/feeling coming from the intake/throttle body area. When I go back to stock tune, it goes away. It doesn't seem like spark knock, although I am running 87 octane....not in the "performance" setting. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I took it to "Ford", and they said it is not a "Ford" sound. No engine lights either. Thanks!

You get that from time to time especially using canned tunes that are not written for cai's.......

Get your edge converted to a gryphon from php and order some custom tunes also.....

Thanks 88Racing...Please bear with my ignorance, but is the "gryphon" an upgrade to the Edge, or is it a whole new unit. Also, what is "php". Thanks for all your help!!!

You are really playing dangerously when you add a CAI to an 04, 5.4 3v. It can cause them to run lean on the stock tune. Plus, Edge programs are written for the stock intake. Get your Edge converted to the Gryphon with a custom tune if you want to run a CAI.

Or you could toss the CAI and do a Gotts/DWV mod to the stock intake.

Thanks for all your input. I will be contacting PHP shortly. Also, I looked in the "how to's" for the Gotts Mod. I couldn't find it. Any more on this would be great...Thanks everyone!
