Testing a fuel Pump

I believe it is time for a new fuel pump on my 2005 5.4. Before I drop the 300+dollars on a new pump I have a quick question. The problem I am having is when the gas pedal is put to the floor it putt putt's and skips and stutters and gives me a low pressure code. If this is being caused by the fuel pump becoming weak would I be able to tell by reeving up the truck with it in park and holding a steady RPM? the plugs were changed 40,000 miles ago and the fuel filter last week. any suggestions would be great. Thanks

You need a pressure guage to check the pump thats the only way. You have replaced the fuel filter?

Confucius say "filling out profile eliminate guessing" (which often leads to NO help). J pegged it correctly!

To the original poster - before digging into the fuel pump, check the FPDM for corrosion.
