1993 F150 Fuel Injectors same as 5.0 mustang?

I have a 1993 F150 351W that has a miss, I've changed plugs, wires, rotor and cap. I've checked timing, all are good. I am thinking it must be a dirty fuel injector(s) this truck was sitting for a year or two between being run and I'm thinking deposits or varnish built up. Anyway, with 165,000 on the original injectors I wouldn't be surprised and I'm kinda out of ideas.

I have a friend who has a set of 1992 5.0 19lb injectors from an old mustang 5.0 and I'm wondering if anyone knows if these are the same injectors on the 1993 f150 351W EFI?

Appreciate the help!

Drain the gas tanks, change the fuel filter, put fresh gas in with bottles of Techron or Gumout with Regane.

hmm good idea on the fuel filter. The truck has fresh gas in it, and I ran a can of seafoam through it before I changed the plugs/wires etc... Anyone know if the injectors are the same though?

Nope. Speed density trucks used 17lb inj... But 19's will work, and will allow you to bump the base ignition timing upto 14 deg...

The SD truck 5.0 and 5.8 both have the yellowish Orange injectors and they are 19lb/hr. The mustang injectors should work but I've heard ( and plan to use) injectors from a 5.0 explorer are much better. As opposed to one hole the explorers have four, which should lead to better atomization and they are 19lb as well.

If you have ever flow tested a injector form a SD truck you would see there is a difference. As to the mustang injectors they are Bosch EV1. Which have 4 hole spray pattern just like Explorers.

My truck for example: 1990 302 EFI SD factory equipped with pn FOTE C3A = 19lb/hr @ 32 PSI 2.21 BARS, 22.15lb/hr @ 43.5 PSI 3 BARS and are a yellowish orange color. This is what my research has taught me with my local dealer being one of my references. As far as the mustang injectors being the same as the explorers, that could very well be true being they are essentially the same engine (H.O.) with minor differences.

I run the Bosch "Design 3's" or "Type 3's", yea better spray pattern. They're 19's, I had to convert EV1 to EV6 because they came from a crown vic crate, - not a big deal. All in all, Orange 19's are 19's. I've run the Ford 3.8 injectors in the 5four when troubleshooting without a problem. But, there really hasn't been any improvement with performance or economy as far as I can tell. FRP has a chart -

But if I recall, some of those old Stangs had pink injectors lol.

Older stangs all had orange 19 Bosch EV1 and the 5.0 Cobras had Blue 24 lb injectors. O=The pink injectors your referring to are 21lb inj. The chart you posted is for FMS injectors.

Yes, fraid so chiefy, some of those old Stangs had pink injectors. I don't care about the poundage as I wasen't stating they were 19's, -just "Pink". Check any Mustang forum, -hell, google it. And as I said, the chart came from FRP. I ought of know since I grabbed it lol.

Great thanks for all the info everyone. The injectors from the mustang are baby Sh** tannish orange, and the ones in the truck are a little more regular orange LOL. I think they are basically the same color just faded a little maybe or a different batch. It sounds like they may have a different spray patter but should work so I will give it a shot and post the results.

oh, I changed the fuel filter and ran that cleaner suggested through with negative results... still missin'

If it's not a clogged injector I'm kind of at a loss. I guess I'll be changing the drivers side injectors first, and if that doesn't work I'll have to remove the upper intake to do the passenger side.

Update*

They do work... I replaced the 4 drivers side injectors with the mustang injectors hoping against hope that it was one of those 4 and not the pita ones on the passenger side that were causing the problem. Well, it definately runs better so I'm guessing they were all a little fouled, however, it is not completely solved and I'll have to tear off the upper intake to replace that side too....

I did notice that side by side the injectors are different. The 5.0 H.O. injectors are a litte longer, and the design below the "O" ring on the neck of the injector is a little different, but the differences are not functional and they hook in just fine. Also, the mustang injectors have what looks like a tiny pin in the bottom where the f150 injectors had 4 small holes, different style I guess. Either way, the truck runs so they do work.

I think before I pull the rest of the injectors I'm going to pull the new plugs again and see if I can see any fouling so I can maybe narrow it down to a particular cylinder...
