Project Rebuild: '02 5.4 2V
Haven't Updated this in a while.
Engine is now Out... BUT... The girl that was working with us, SUPPOSEDLY got all the bell housing bolts out on the starter side, and i asked her several times, But apparently she didn't, so when we were pulling it out, There was a bolt left in the bellhousing attached to the tranny, and it took a chunk out of the tranny and cracked it all the way around the top. So now i am pretty sure we are on the hunt for a new 4R100.

Teardown starts tomorrow.

Better the bell housing break than the block. Couldn't you tell it was hanging up on something?? It has to be lifted and separated from the trans. Should have been noticeable. Pretty sure you can just get a new bell housing? And not a full tranny..Good progress though.
Don't forget new motor mounts, pick them up at rock auto.

No I couldn't tell at all, it was just coming off the motor mounts then i heard a Big BANG. The bell housing is part of the whole Transmission case, so unfortunately you can't get just the bellhousing.
Ouch, costly mistake.
So if i am not mistaken, flat top pistons raise compression by decreasing the size of the combustion chamber, correct? Out of the two, which would give the most bang for the buck?
