Thanks glc but that's what I was saying earlier...I finally found the leak running back from the pcv. It was a hose busted on the back side.

Got all plugs and cops changed. Once I get the hose fixed she should be good to go.

JBrew...I'm a little worried about how # 4 seated by I couldn't get a good look at it. Will be interesting to see what happens once I fire her up.

Thanks for all your help...and humor

Take a flashlight and make sure the flared out top part of the cop is seated all the way down on the block. Sometimes you have to "screw" them in back and fourth to get them all the way down to seat flush, especially being new they're going to be a pretty tight fit.

Took her on a long test drive and so far so good. No missing, no codes, runs and sounds good.

Thanks guys for all your help. The info and folks here are great.

Well...she's running rough again. No codes but missing bad again. Any ideas without codes showing?

Check all the plug ins on the cops, could have had one work loose.

You should be able to scan for pending codes even without a MIL.

I ran a scan and everything came up clean. I'll check the cops again tomorrow.

Cops seem to be okay. Idles okay but when in gear it starts missing as well as under load starting up a hill. If this were a cop or a injector wouldn't I be throwing codes?

Never mind...finally threw codes P0304 and P0316. #4 misfire and I bet the cop is not seated correctly. Wouldn't you know of the 8 it's the one most difficult to get to? I tell you...I'm living proof God has a sense of humor :o)

Back to square one. Pull #4 plug & cop look good but rough running with a load still a problem. Could a clogged fuel filter be causing this problem?

Yea, I did that before. The end of the boot folded in half, - instead of seating down on the plug. #4 of course lol.

Not sure if that's what happened to you, doesn't sound like it. Sounds like you had a bad connection in the chamber, like with the spring/plug connect. Maybe you had dielectric grease between the plug and the spring, - that can make them miss.

Hey JBREW, I think the connection just wasn't good but I regreased, replugged and that part is good BUT I still have a bad miss. I'm wondering if it's either the injector or EGR. It doesn't miss when ideling anymore but only when under a load (accelerating, climbing a hill, etc)

BTW....MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!

Here's how you handle this. Pull #4 coil and swap it with #1. Make no sense digging into #4 if you don't have to and this procedure will determine whether the coil,- as being the problem. I hope your disconnecting the battery each and every time.

Once done, start, then see if the misfire moves to #1 cylinder. Injectors won't usually go bad in this way. So just swap the coil. Make absolutely sure that the spring is connected to the coil blade tightly and don't let NY grease get in between the spring and plug connect. Grease will Fubar your connection, -means insufficient spark for that plug.

So what do you use to lube the COP boot to slide over the plug end? You said in another thread that the boots when new can be dry and not slide over the plug and needs to be lubed. I had figured dielectric grease would be safe to use as a lube. I'm chasing this same issue P0304 on mine and new COP's are next in line for me.

Dielectric grease is what you are supposed to use. So you don't get it on the contact spring, grease up the plug porcelain and use a very small amount inside the boot.
