First time Question new member

First time Question new member

Hello all first time on the site and have a question that you guys may be able to help me with, I have a 1997 f150 XLT she (Red) has 270,000 miles on her odometer and has decide to blow a head gasket. My question for you guys and posible gals is will a 4.6l out of a 2002 Lincoln town car plug and play in a 1997 ford f150 w/ a 4.6l engine already. Any help will be apreciated '

It's not a simple plug and play. The 97 has coil packs and plug wires, the 02 has coil on plug. There are differences in the wiring harnesses.

As glc says your truck engine is prepower improved and the 2002 engine is power improved. You will want to use your 99 wire harness and coil pack on the 2002 and with those the 99 PCM will work as well. Also find a power improved truck intake and install it on the car engine. The 99 throttle body and adapter will bolt right on the PI truck intake making it easy to hookup existing vac lines etc. There are a few small differences like exhaust manifolds and the egr tube etc. But it is something that you should be able to do with average mechanical skills. Do a search on this site and find some more detailed information regarding this swap. Good luck.
