find a shop that uses time sert

I live in west tennessee and would like to find a shop to install a time sert insert to repair a blown spark plug. Does anybody know of a close shop?

I have a set that I rent to Christian Brothers in Germantown (SE Memphis). Is the truck driveable? I drove my '99 CV on 7 cylinders for about a month before I got this set. Just plug the hole, and UNplug the coil & injector. Read these captions:

not driveable

not really drivable and I have no way to plug hole. Are you saying you have one you rent to them or thru them? I've done heli-coils in the past and have watched the video on time sert. I just hate to pay for a tool that may never be used again.

there's a guy on here that rents the kit, goes by galaxy i believe. his website is here. shoot him an email or pm and he'll set you up, he rents out the kit. it's a fairly straight forward and easy enough to do process. i did it in my driveway with hand tools in around an hour.

if you pull the coil off you can drive the truck. it will be an annoying sound but the computer should shut that cylinder down.

I would disconnect the injector connector as well. Means you can drive with just seven cylinders.

I unplugged coil and injector. Starts but is loud and rough. At least I can move it.

The PCM might recognize that the coil is disconnected and automatically stop opening that injector. But if you're unplugging the coil, you might as well just unplug the injector at the same time (as you did) and know for sure that that cylinder is "shut down".

But you haven't actually "shut" that cylinder yet - if you left the stripped spark plug hole open, then it's sucking dirty air in every other stroke, and you run the risk of damaging the rings & cylinder wall. I used fast-set epoxy putty around a crappy spark plug to seal mine, as those pics show.

I saw a 'plug' on the net designed to close the hole. I wonder how many 'temporary' plugs are still out there?

decided to buy

I decided to buy the Timesert tool. I have several Fords and family members with them so it seemed the better choice. I did talk to the user Galaxy as many recommended. He really is a upstanding guy and I would say to call him to anyone who want to rent the tool. He has a good plan and very reasonable pricing.

Speaking of torque, what is the current opinion on how tight to get the plugs on a 5.4?

Tool here

Got my Timesert kit from e-bay, vendor toolskwik. Great price and fast, free shipping. I have watched the video and hope to try it out this weekend. I already have a local shop that wants to rent it. This may end up being a money making venture for me.

I rent mine locally for $20/day + $20/insert that doesn't come back with it (friend price).
