whats the harm...

in running 8.5 compression ratio with the hopes of putting a turbo one day

8.5 compared to 9.0 compression is only about a 25hp difference.
So it will be slightly underpowered till you put the turbo on.
Otherwize, wont hurt anything.

i always was told you wanted to lower your compression ratio when your putting forced induction on???

unless your gonna be running like 12psi or more there really isn't a point in running a lower comp. in boosted motors.

What did you do to raise compression, PI swap, pistons? Or is your engine caked with carbon lol.

I would stick with the 9 - 9.5 range for a centri or turbo. Most daily driving is not in boost (90%(?)) so losing that little extra low end hp would be missed...if your always racing, that's another story.

well from what I read I should have about 8.5 compression ratio for forced induction and also that I should not go above 10:1 on the ratio, if that is not the case what should the compression be on the motor before I put the turbo on and how much will it go up afterwords, keep in mind this is all on paper I am trying to price out the list of parts for a navi engine and the pistons is the only thing stopping me
