efan install problem!!

I just put in a flexalite e-fan. Got it used for a good price, it came off a chevy so the mounting brackets don't line up but I rigged it up to work. Because it's not for an F150 I didn't have the greatest directions to install.

I got it all wired up and everything and I went to start my truck and the fan didn't trun on! I thought for a second, turned on the AC and the fan kicked in full force. It has the regular flexalite control module. I wired the AC to the gray and white wire, I think that's positive.

What did I do wrong, why will it only work with the AC on? Is it possible that I have a bad accessory wire for when the key is turned on? I won't get to look at it again till tonight, I'll just drive with the AC on for non lol.

hey.

I'm not familiar with that controller (there are far better ones out there, BTW - hold that thought ).

Some things are common however:

- what model efan kit is it - and is it a 1 or 2 fan system?

- Where did you place the temp probe?

- What turn-on temp did you set it for - how did you determine that temp (means of measurement)?
............ remember - it's only supposed to run when commanded by the temp threshold - NOT at first-start in a cold truck)

- fuse sizes?

- wiring gauge?

- Pics / diagram / text details of how you connected the thing? E.g. - primary power direct to battery, etc ...)

- BTW - did you bench-test it before install to ensure it was working? Kinda late now, - next time, okay? lol)

- I assume you went to FAL's website for Ford install instructions? (the 'self-help' portion of my diatribe)

Need more info in order to help you ...

mgd, thanks for the quick reply I think I was too impatient. I thought the fan would kick in as soon as the truck was started, everything is working good now. I just drove it, I'm loving the extra horsepower from a dead stop. I hope MPG's go up

Funny you say that, I couldn't believe that doing the fan mod would make my tires chirp when I accelerate from stop. I have 315/70/17 bfg AT's and they never chirp, I do have a vortech supercharger with 8 psi so don't expect just the fan to do this but stock 3.55 gears. I can't wait for the 4.56 gears in a few months, it should be fun!!

I will keep you guys updated I think I've been getting 10 mpg on avearge mixed driving latley with my 6" lift and tires. I am getting my supercharger dyno tuned tomorrow which will lean out my fuel economy because I know it's running rich but I'll keep you posted on how the MPG's are.
