Power steering pump pulley problems

So I was changing out my power steering pump today and when I was starting to press the pulley back on after I installed the pump. The threads on the shaft of the pump used to pull the pulley back onto the pump striped. I know the pulley is not going on crooked, the problem was the bolt I was using was just a little to short and there was to little threads for the pressure it was under while pressing the pulley. It lacks maybe an eight of an inch to be flush on the shaft. So i was wondering short of re tapping it does anyone know of any way to press the pulley the rest of the way on?

there is no other way. Dont try youll just ruin your new pump. Tap it out. I've ruined a pump or 2 in my day screwing around with them just do it the right way or you'll be buying a new pump and or pulley.
