Klitch has gone through a couple of rear ends to. The 8.8 will hold up in a lightweight truck with no towing or hauling.

man does anyone know of some places online to find a wrecked truck? i checked ebay, autotrader, googled it and craigslist. local salvage yards are asking 4k plus just for the engine. i found a few on ebay for 3k but i think if i shop around i could find the whole truck for 4 or 5 thousand. am i rite?
and thanks everyone for all the info. im gonna look more into the transmission after class today. i need to see which method will be more beneficial in the long run. i know a guy who can biuld a solid tranny for about 1500-2000 so i may call him and get an actual price...

the heads have been tested up to 100 ft lbs..so you can tq them to 30 safely without stripping them..they reason they blow out is because they are to loose

Huh, well I was going from what I've heard, which gave me the impression that the blowouts are much more prominent on the 5.4s. But, if the heads are the same... I guess instead of peeing on a parade I was peeing into the wind.

so your saying that if i were to crank all the plugs to 30ft/lbs then that will most likely prevent them blowing out?

you also don't need to buy the complete engine, you can get by with the supercharger and intake assembly followed by the parts list from Mike Dunn
