Its kind of a drag. you get the plastic disconnect tools slide them in push wiggle them and they come off. Auto parts stores sell the kits for about $10

similar tool depending what one you use. the one I got that worked the best was a HVAC disconnect kit. It a bugger getting them things to disconnect even with the tool.

The one for the fuel filter that i use is the metal X type with 2 different sizes on each side that clamp down on the line and slide into the line to release it.

that really wont work. you need the really thin plastic one. go to the parts store and get the right tool. Its the only way to get them off.

yeah kinda like that. The kit I got had several different sizes. Has to fit perfect. And like I said its still a drag. I had one off my new engine to screw around with first and working on it outside on a bench it took awhile. of course it made it easier in the truck because I had it figured out. an ordeal it is..

I need to pull my intake off which is why im thinking of getting the rails out of the way. Can i just leave them connected to the lines and just unbolt them from the intake?

that would be the best way. You really dont need to take it off to remove the intake.

I got these from harbor freight about 5 years ago, have used them dozens of times. I think the blue and red is what I used on my 99 5.4. There was like 5 or 6 pieces/sizes in the set for 2.99
