It's hard for me to determine, sounds more like a fast rattle or buzzing noise to me. Is it possible you can get the serpentine belt off and see if that makes a difference? Have you tried listening below the truck around the cats etc.? I'm thinking it may be an exhaust system issue and being amplified at your headers. It doesn't seem to follow the engine RPM. With only 20,000 miles I find it hard to believe its any of the FEAD components but who knows. Hate to lead you on a wild goose chase but without being there it's hard at least for me to get a good idea of the noise its making.

Yeah i know its kind of a tough one... But you are right I really think its an exhaust thing being amplified by the headers also. But these have no valve adjustments, no cam phasers......... sooo what could it be? And yes i got under there and the noise comes before it gets to the cats. I stuck my ear as close as I could to where the headers come together and you can hear it echoing through them louder.. And it doesn't get louder with rpm... Are there any other symptoms of water pump failure to look out for ? Thanks again..

OOOOKKKKK so first off I want to thank all of you so much for all the tips. I took GLC's great advice and tightened the spark plugs. NO MORE tick! It blows my mind that after 5000 miles of being installed they had loosened. Well only one was very loose- on the left side second to the back. I tightened the ones I could get a torque wrench on to 28 and played best guess on the others. What a relief! I love this forum! If you all lived near me i'd take you out for a round a beers! Cheers!

Glad to see you found the problem. I found that an auto stethoscope is the quickest why to find little ticks and rattles in an engine. At least it eliminates a lot of issues.

Yea, good job following thru Supercrew. I have a friend with a Expy call from a gas station after one worked it's way out. I could hear it running thru the phone, - sounded like a damn coffee maker percolating lol. It does happen.

I had decided we weren't going to be able to convince you to tighten them!

DO NOT use antiseize??. Ok, I just had my plugs changed on my 06 last month and they used antiseize. Now what happens?

Nothing, anti seize is recommended for your engine. You have updated plug chambers.
