these are great trucks! just when you replace the plugs go with the OEM Motorcraft plugs and torque them to spec and you should be good to go. other than that keep up with all other maintenance etc, and enjoy!

I agree with 4wd150. I have 176,000 + miles, and have only EVER replaced a trany seal, alternator, and my ABS sensors.

It all depends on where you are located as to whether thats too high or not. Around here thats pretty close to what I was seeing for a comparable truck. If its in creampuff condition Id say its a fair price. Seems like trucks are cheaper in the South for some reason.

AGREED, what were the other trucks like yourS selling for in your area? it all depends on the truck condition, milage, there are probably newer ones for less but what are they missing? if you did your home work and that was the truck you wanted and the price you wanted to pay then i would say its just right...

I just went from an 08 to an 03 and couldnt be happier. These older trucks are great generally reliable trucks. Im sure you will be very happy with it for years to come and thats all that matters.

I bought my '97 in '01 for $17k with 64,000 miles on the clock and I've still got it and it now has over 206,000 miles on it! Regularly tow the TT in my sig and have a whole Summer of camping scheduled for this year and no worries!

I found this site just after I bought my F150 and read all the horror stories and I said to myself "Oh ****, what have I done!!"

Well, after all this time and miles, all I can say is if you keep up with the maintenance and don't just outright 'abuse' your truck, it'll give you plenty of miles and years of service...

I've stuck around this site since '01 and still have the same F150 I bought in '01, so somethings right about it all!

Welcome and good luck with your new rig!

Mitch

Welcome to the site.
You should get plenty of enjoyable miles out of your truck!

I paid $9500 for my 2002 lariat F150Scab4x4 69,000 miles last April. It was in great shape, but needed a battery and servicing. I've put 15,000 miles on it since then with zero problems. Knock on Wood!

I sold my PRISTINE '02 XLT S Cab 2WD with a lot of very tasteful extras (I'm not a kid) with less than 20k mi. in '04 for $13k. I didn't want to sell that cheap but prices were going down (very competative then). The truck was absolutely new. I feel the price you paid was kind of high, but it depends where you live and if you're happy, that's all that counts.
