Are they not pretty costly? Just stick with Motorcraft or Purolater.

After a bit of research I decided to go with Purolator PureOne for my truck and Mobil 1 5w20 Synthetic for my oil changes....can do an oil change for around $35 and I'm putting in pretty good stuff and the pure one seems like a good filter.

According to that the K&N filters are made by champion labs, and are identical to the Mobil 1 filters (except for the fancy nut welded to the K&N lol). Also the Motorcrafts are made by Purolator. Which is why I usually stick with motorcraft, as they're 3 bucks and change for a great filter.

Anyone ever use Fram Extra Guard oil filters ? I have used them for the 2 1/2 years I have owned my truck. I do know that all filters are not the same but since I have joined here and the more I read about the triton motors the more I freak out and wonder if I'm using good enough oil and filters.

I'm sure you will find a consensus here, that you will want to use a Motorcraft filter. They have a superior anti drain back valve in them. So they basically build pressure faster.

Oh great..... I buy oil and filters in bulk. I still have 13 Fram filters in the garage. Well I can always try to make "tiki" torches out of them

Thanks guy i normally use motorcraft on all the fords i have owned .my dad put that in my head many years ago. But i have a friend with a 99 cobra and he just raves about the k&n oil filter so i thought i would get a second opinion. So just as i thought motocraft is the way to go.thanks again.

I still have well over 2 cases of the Old Style FL-820-S MotorCraft Filters in my supply closet! I think that they will last me until I am in my 90's!!....(LOL)..Or until the truck is nothing but a rusted out fully boxed frame on wheels!...

If you want to use a K&N, it's a very good filter. However, it's not worth the cost unless you are using synthetic oil and extended drain intervals.
