2000 5.4l head gasket repair pics

Well on new years day my truck blew a head gasket with only 125k. We tried everything to make it run right and nothing so we started tearing down last monday got the heads shaved over the weekend and had to get .0015 takin off to be level. Thought it was gonna be ALOT worse, but were not finished yet lol. also why everything is pulled apart im puting headers on, new water pump, plugs, all the little stuff... heres some pics, just got the head turqued down tonight and am going to start had on it tomorrow after work.

Man, keep this thread going with more pics and a step by step lol.

Seriously! Could use one of those in the "How To's". There's a good timing write up in their from Dynotech, but not one with pictured stepX of this procedure.

Heads look nice from what I can see.

Good luck on the rest

HI!... Did you have the block deck checked for squareness? A ton of "99" and some "2000" 5.4 blocks have way out of tolerance deck clearances. I learned this after my dealer changed heads on my 5.4 4 times before they admitted it. You can resurface the heads and put all the new head gaskets you want. If the deck is out it will leak again. It's rare for the heads to be out. Has your truck ever been over heated?

Neal, thanks for the concern, but the head gasket that blew has a .0005 different at the number 4 cylinder compared to 1,2,3. So it had to have been the head. It got to 230 degrees one time.
