Im using a big aluminum h/e behind my front bumper. I forget who makes it but an afco wouldnt fit with my bumper brackets so im using some knock off brand but its the same thing just not name brand, so 1/4 the cost.

ok guys i snaped a few pictures.... this motor still has cross hatching in the cyl. walls doesnt that mean its really low mileage??? ill snap more close ups. Also i have 4.6L heads will the valves out of the 94 4.6L work on the 99 5.4? the valves are the same size right??

motor spins VERY easy i stood it on the fly well and could spin the motor around with very lil effort.

im trying to deside if i want to do cams and a blower or one or the other? i found a blower with most the stuff i need for 400. found cams any were from 500-1200 a cam set that was 625. went from 1,000 RPM to 5,600RPM i think i might run that. ill try and find the link again.
blurry pic

alot better pic

need upper and lower intake. Also other than honing and cleaning the cyl walls and getting new bearings, and oil pump. anything else low end in the block i need to do?? Aftermarket pistons or is there no need??

Cool

HI!... Well if your going with a blower then scrap the stock rods and pistons. That "99" should have a forged steel crank in it. Check the parting line on the crank. Get ARP main and head studs if your going to SC it. A D.S.S girdle wouldn't hurt either while you got it apart. Get good head gaskets, like the MLS Cometic or Felpro. new timing chains, guides etc. Brass frost plugs are good. A Cobra high volume oil pump is cheap in price or you can run a Melling or MMS racing pump.

main/rod bearings, but id say go with new pistons and rods. id go .020 over too so you know all your cylinders are good.

thanks for the info guys. ok a local shop around here does head work. cleaning and valve job 110 for a pair of heads. then its 40 PER head for resurfacing. not to bad 190 total and i know my heads are good and lvl. i didnt ask about prot and polishing is that even worth it????

i heard somewere a set of NON-PI heads that get ported can out flow the PI heads?? so what happens if you port PI heads???

just some odd ball questions hoping yall can help me with. should i build this motor part by part or find an entire rebuild kit for a grand or so??

also i am going to put a block heater on this motor were should i put it??

Also my buddy took 3-4 valves out of one of my heads can i use the valves out of my 94 4.6L Non-PI heads in the basement? or should i buy a new set of valves?

my buddys 03 PI motor had a bent valve from the start so he took one from mine. and then in timing it bent another 1 and broke another one. the deal to get our motors was he could take any parts needed to make his truck run.

so i am missing 3 valves out of one head. will the 94 non PI valves work??

Yes. porting the heads is a good idea. You will see more power.

Don't take this the wrong way,,but you should buy a built short block from a professional builder!!!!
Have you ever built a mod motor?
After the head story,,,I would definitely have a pro do it.

I agree with klitch,
why mix and match? Put ALL new parts in your heads.
Your building a NEW motor. Everything should be NEW.

I still dont understand why he's even considering it... New valves arent overly pricey, neither is guides.
