T-Stat Install
T-Stat Install
Ok, I have a 97 F150 4.6w . I changed the T-Stat I just read somewhere about lining the t-stat up?This is the first I have every heard of this.Is there a mark or something that needs to be lined up?
Drop it into the intake hole with the spring at the bottom ( down) install the O ring on top of it then reposition the goose neck outlet over the opening and tighten the two bolts down alternating between them so you don't crack the housing. Torque both bolts to 20-30 nm. Connect hose, then start and check for leaks. Thats it.
That is what I though and have always done, but read about some marks to lineup, but have never seen any marks.I rather double check then mess something up, by not having it sitting correctly
There is a small air bleed off hole on one side at the top of t-stat that I sometimes rotate to the front because the engine sits in the truck at a 4 deg angle making the front just slightly higher. But it's just because I get **** sometimes. At the factory during the engine assembly they are just dropped in at random so it makes no difference, Maybe thats what someone was refering to. Take care.
