I've never seen a t'stat fail open, but I know it can happen. But since we're brainstorming, I'd look at coolant level, & check for debris in the heater core blocking it up. Both in the coolant & in the airstream.

Well finally got time to take the water pump off, as soon as I locate my camera will take pictures.I flipped the pump over and there was only one fin left on the pump, and that one I ended up just breaking it off with my fingers. So I am going to take the garden hose on really flush the block and everything out before I put it back together.

I am guessing old, as I only use Prestone Regular Antifreeze in the truck.I have put around 50,000 miles on the truck since I owned it.Did not see a Motor Craft Logo on the waterpump, so not sure if it has ever been replaced. Here is a couple pictures of the old and new pump.So far I have have 2 of the 8 missing fins. The fins and the plate seemed pretty thinnly made.

There are a couple real slick tools available for that stubborn nut. One of them is designed to be used with an air hammer. It's not a chisel, the bit has a fitted end that goes on the wrench head. As long as you're driving it counter-clockwise it comes off pretty quick and easy.

- Well, it all went into the trash anyway. Yea try getting that pulley after removing it like that, -without acetylene or plasma. The pulley was all I needed -it was a tricky lol.

Yea, just pulled the pump bolts. I was in the process of installing ALL new pulleys/ clutch fan/ Think a Powerdyne fan blade. Not sure what blade kit I had. Works great tho. That came from ONELOWF. It was so cold when I did this, the fan shroud fell off the bench and broke in two lol, think JMC sent me a used one , NO WAIT, I ended up buying a new one for some reason..Think I already had it ordered or something.

Iduno, pretty sure there's 4. I think I crushed the WP propeller in a big vice and spun the fan off, it took a little persuasion from what I remember, it was locked on there pretty tight lol.

Funny, when you spin a new one on, torque specs aren't really that much. I found a new factory Motorcraft clutch fan on ebay, still in the box. $30
