PI heads
Hemi's are easy to find, just follow the shrapnel trails (nuts and bolts). - I could go on..
You order your diesel yet ?
The 99 has the best OEM set up from the factory, - The 99 sports an Aluminum PI intake. You won't find that on any other model from 97 - 03. Not stock anyway. 99 was the ONLY year Ford used it and this was only used on the F150's w/5.4L's that year.
Alright.....Get the 99 5.4.........check!
The plastic intakes had some problems with cracking, - ALL V8 intakes have forward water jacket problems/ - gasket issues, but it takes quite a few miles to become evident. Like 120,000 +. - That's if you maintain properly, if not , problems come sooner and more of them.
My 98 5.4 didn't have any gasket problems but it ahd 144k when i got it.
I wouldn't mind a 99 on the stand to go thru. I'd leave the heads alone if there's no leaks. If there's leaks on that one, - it's a pretty good sign it's been beat/neglected, - but a compression test will tell the story . - Definitely do something with the OEM manifold studs while it's on the stand.
Make sure you go over JMC's swap notes in the "How to" - That will give you a quick education. - Most likely answer allot of questions that come up.

BTW - Add 4.10's to that and the power bug takes control, you'll always want more, - broom the wife/ auction the kids,-- That may get you a SC quicker. Well , if your kids are worth a shmitz

Did someone say F150 Diesel?!
Don't know much about the Turdoytas, but while numbers may look better on some of those engines, there are lots of other factors to consider. Those 5.7 Nissan's get terrible gas mileage and the rest of the truck falls apart faster than paper mache. Gov't motors trucks are ok (at least they're still American made) but I don't think I could ever own one. And if you're looking for more power from your Triton, there are relatively simple after market options to give you some decent boosts. Nothing like the gains you could get with a diesel... did someone say F150 Diesel?

there is alot to take into account. but ill always...stay American.
And i read something about a f150 diesel coming out but the financial crisis moved back production dates or something. its' like 4.4l v8 diesel.

Ford has decided to shelve plans to introduce a diesel F-150 in 2010. Last spring, Ford demoed dealers with a 4.4-liter oil burning V8 F-150. It boasted an estimated 350 hp and 500 lb·ft of torque—more power and twist than the F-150’s 5.4-liter gasoline V8 while quaffing 20 percent less fuel. And then F-150 sales dried-up and gas prices cratered—especially relative to diesel. “No new date has been scheduled [for the diesel pickup],” Mark Fields, Ford’s president of the Americas, told Automotive News late last month. “We’re still looking at the appropriate time to do that. We’ve put it on the back burner for right now.” According to AN’s source/speculation, the diesel F-150 has officially been delayed until 2013. “But it will likely be canceled outright unless diesel prices fall substantially below gasoline for a prolonged period.” And then what? You’d think Ford would want a fully developed, tried and tested diesel F-150 in their quiver ahead of any such completely unexpected development. Then again, money’s too tight to mention.
