Exactly. Higher compression w/high octane that burns slower = more power and torque. Does that make sense ?? Hell no, is it true ? Sure is..

Higher compression + More flow. You'll want to top that off with an intake and exhaust (she has to breath) and of course a custom tune. The 4six with the shorter stroke wynds up quicker than the 5four, so you'll have improvements down low , but more up top.

So for what i need...which do you think that it would be easier/cost efficient? I have the means to do the 99+ 5four swap at no cost other than the price of the motor&tranny/ecu/intake... Or i could do the pi swap/intake/gears...with this could i do what i need it to do? I got a while to think about it but i def want more low end. Which would i be happier with...pullin power wise?

The 5.4L for what you want. You can build a 4six to compete with the 5fours low end , but why ? When you can start with a 5four ?

As the saying goes - "There's no replacement for displacement"

diff companies have their cars tuned diff i guess...
ford hasn't really won'ted/been able to compete power wise or they wouldn't have switched to modular motors. Pushrods are better for making powr than the modular too.
Now what are they doing to compete with the power outputs of other companies.?.....
their coming out with the 6.2...(increased displacement).

You take two motors...build the **** out of them both.....i'd dare to say the one with more displacement will come out on top and it'll be cheaper to get there too.

Why don't drag cars use 4 cylinders?

Well , - I'm sure about most everything lol, -but I wasn't referring to those knock-offs mentioned above. That's a little different, the saying there is - "If you own one, plan on replacing it".. - Or something really smart like that.

The 99 has the best OEM set up from the factory, - The 99 sports an Aluminum PI intake. You won't find that on any other model from 97 - 03. Not stock anyway. 99 was the ONLY year Ford used it and this was only used on the F150's w/5.4L's that year.

The plastic intakes had some problems with cracking, - ALL V8 intakes have forward water jacket problems/ - gasket issues, but it takes quite a few miles to become evident. Like 120,000 +. - That's if you maintain properly, if not , problems come sooner and more of them.

I wouldn't mind a 99 on the stand to go thru. I'd leave the heads alone if there's no leaks. If there's leaks on that one, - it's a pretty good sign it's been beat/neglected, - but a compression test will tell the story . - Definitely do something with the OEM manifold studs while it's on the stand.

Make sure you go over JMC's swap notes in the "How to" - That will give you a quick education. - Most likely answer allot of questions that come up.

BTW - Add 4.10's to that and the power bug takes control, you'll always want more, - broom the wife/ auction the kids,-- That may get you a SC quicker. Well , if your kids are worth a shmitz
