New motor also needs new manifold studs. No big surprise. We lowered the motor in and it looks like we can bolt it up with the intake on. Hope it will save some aggravation.

A safe way to clean ? Iduno, it's kind of difficult teaching common sense over the net Just section it, but now that it's installed, - never-mind lol.

I would have pulled the intake without question. Ford has a gasket problem at the front water jackets and it's allot easier handling on the stand vrs in the truck. Yea, that problem was NEVER fixed or we wern't given any direction via TSB in print (OASIS). What you have to do is start the tightening sequence in the back instead of the middle. That doesn't fix it either, but it helps. Also add one more stage.

Felpro produces/offers the same gasket as OEM, just a different color, but lotts cheaper @ Rock auto.

I can't believe you didn't clean the engine, your fired! lol

Usually if you remove the radiator from the truck and pull the condenser aside you can get the engine in and out of most trucks without taking the intake off, but ive never tried a newer Ford so dont quote me

It looks pretty straight forward the only thing I am concerned with is the top two bell housing bolts. I think a hard hat and some acrobatics are in order. I took off the dipstick tube and that should let me rest it on the motor mounts and slide it back. The motor wasn't greasy just muddy. Most of it came of with the air blower and there is enough plastic on the top to cover the rest.

That's good, yea, if you can clean it with a big brush and shop vac maybe (to keep the dust down) -that would be the way. Which ever works best, just don't hose her down lol, water gets in places that you usually can't cover, not all of them anyway. You can use to assist.
