Well whatever, I'd use them all until I found what I wanted.

Maybe next time you'll run the right plugs, Autolite doesn't have a spec plug for that engine, wrong heat range. They can't dicipate the heat properly, -in turn can heat up and fall apart. Guess where the pieces go lol. Bosch plugs are the worst. It's best to read your manual or stickers under the hood if you don't know what your doing

I pulled the valve pan today and didn't see anything suspicious. Is there a cheater way to get the crankshaft pulley off? I have a 3 jaw but I don't want to mangle it too much.
If you have access to a torch heat up the pulley and apply an ice cube to the crankshaft, attach puller and apply tension then take a rubber mallet and give her a whack! or two or three. should pop right off. of course this is a simple text book version. more than likely it will take many busted knuckles cursing, sweat, tears, and a few beers.

O.K. Hijacking the thread again, I used the search engine to try and find an engine. I found some but anything decent was at least $1200. And about 300 miles away maybe I should throw the towel in a cough up the dough. I only paid $500 for the truck cause its got a blown motor. (previous owner broke off dipstick where it connects to block, causing loss of oil) It has a brand spanking new transmission as well. That was replaced by AAMCO. about 1k miles before the engine went. As far as fuel lines on the wrong side I dont think that would be an issue. I'm planning on using the intake off the truck. I guess as long as the bolt pattern on the heads are the same. i'm almost positive that the transmission behind the 4.6 in the car is the AODE and I dont know if the bellhousing bolt pattern is the same used on the 4r70w. I guess I could crawl under and give it a measure to see. Really I just want the long block out of the car. Sorry for the long post and thanks for all the help guys.

Yea, you should start a thread lol, but my dipstick tube rusted, just about in two pieces, - right behind the manifold. I had no idea until it was almost completely in two pieces. Have to watch that on the older ones. Luckily, everything seems to be alright, that's about half way up.

BTW- Don't say "tears" - you may get accused of whining.

Got my new motor today. Is there a safe way to clean it before it goes in? Also is there any way to put it in without taking the intake off? Looks like it would save some frustration.( and $100 worth of gaskets)
