Can i stroke my 5.4?
Can i stroke my 5.4?
So more ideas roaming my brain (not good). I recenetly did some headwork, cams, valves, porting ect, to my 5.4. But since it is torn apart, I want to make it a stroker, as ive stroked a 460 before. Ive been reading that Fords future 5.0 is a stroked 4.6 and the 6.2L Boss is just a stroked 5.4, but im not sure if the internals are forged, or if these rumors are even true. I am trying to find a stroker kit but cannot find anything, only the 4.6 to 5.0 kits. (newbie when it comes to finding stuff on the internet)
My question is, where can i locate a stroker kit, OR should i be looking for the 6.2 rotating assembly?

there is a stroker kit at paschalperformance.com. little pricy. The new 6.2 is definately not a stroker 5.4. different motor. the 5.4 is an oversquare motor so its hard to stroke it anymore than it already is while retaining reliability, I looked into this to and that is what i was told anyway.
there are 2 kits available it appears, a billiet and forged metal. I would go with forged. The kit is $2,000 forged pistons and crank, steal rods bearings seals, which is NOT bad in my book. I am strongly thinking about this. Would just need to get an oil pump and the block acid dipped and honed. What type of horsepower do you think i would make minimonster? with ported heads and stage 2 cams, and plus my description. I just gotta know that it would be worth it.

I dont want to sound dumb -- But I am with this topic. But, isn't engine stroke just longer piston motion from the crack ? Changes things like compression and so on?
So unless these comments are sarcasm which I am missing how can a 4.6 be a stroked 5.4? As they're a displacements?

I'm pretty sure it's not

the piston length is shorter making a bigger longer stroke. The 5.4 is a mild stroked 4.6 technically. The 4.6s bore is 3.55 and the stroke is 3.54, and the 5.4s bore is 3.55 but the stroke is 4.16. Thats all i can tell based on specs i got off this website.

Phil - Couldnt i still throw a blower on a stroker motor? I cant fund for that but someday. And i plan on keeping this truck for a long long time.

Unfortunately you shouldn't believe the BS about the stroker not affecting the longevity of the life of the motor. It will!
The piston is pulled so far down in the cylinder that it will actually wobble in there. Causing excessive ware on the piston and cylinder walls.
I have thought about it myself only to be talked out of it by numerous people that have been around and know what there talking about.
