Best mods for low end torque for towing?

I have a 5.4 with a K&N CAI, magnaflow exhaust, NGK plugs and full synth in everything. I would like to do a lightning supercharger swap eventually but I want to see how much power I can get out of this thing before I do. I am planning a programmer and electric fans now but what else can I do that can help this thing out?

Thanks Dave....

Yeah,,,I forgot about the long tubes. They will give you power all through the power-band.Top and bottom end.
I got stage 3 heads from TEA. http://www.totalengineairflow.com/pr...ad/ford46pi2v/
Comp can give you a good custom ground cam but I would not recommend there springs!
They cost me a total rebuild of my bottom end do to a spring that broke and dropped the valve in the cylinder.Put a hole in my piston. This was on the first start up and I had the spring tested,,it was faulty metal. Comp would not even help with part of the cost of the rebuild.

I think I will do the heads on the new motor when I do the lightning stuff. Long tubes, programmer, throttle body maybe pulleys for now. Anything else that is fairly cheap that I could do to help this old 5.4 out?

Pulleys will waste your $$$ since you'll have to take 'em back off when you install the supercharger...

as far as the tuner make sure it can be custom programmed (ie, xcal3, xcal2, gryphon or diablo) or else you'll end up buying another one when it comes time for the supercharger

look at the OBX long tube headers on ebay...

as far as cams the comp cams 102500 seems to do well and is supposed to work well with the supercharged trucks

phil6608 has sent you down the right path and I just offered my $0.02
