Stumble in OD
Another problem I think. Anyone know why the engine will jump from 800 to 12 or 13 revs briefly before going into reverse? Causes a clunk in the drivetrain when it does this. My other Fords didn't do it although they weren't this generation. Gotta cause wear in the joints after a while.
Man, I wish my U-Joints would go - So I could some greasers in there
Almost 260 thousand on my stockers - Ford did something right, but always hated the fact that I only have two zerks on the whole truck.

Was a really nice day here so I thought I would tackle the IAC clean. Decided to just pull the whole throttle body and do it all. Was an easy job after reading the how to section. The IAC looked clean, like almost new. The rest was dirty but not that bad. Just a thin layer of carbon. Cleaned up well. The problem with the jump in rpm's shifting to reverse is the same. Does it worse when cold. Warm idle is at 750. Cold at 800. When shifting to reverse or drive cold, it will idle up briefly to 1200 causing a rough jump into gear. Still the IAC? Anything else could cause this before I buy a new IAC? TPS?

When cleaning the IAC - Did you work the mechanicals inside the sensor ?
Have you cleaned the MAF ?
Have you suck tested the EGR valve?

Yes, looked clean and free
Yes with maf cleaner
No, it did have a thin film but cleaned up good. Don't have a vacuum pump.
Well, alright.
You don't need one.
I don't know then, never heard of that problem- Idles way up between gears, then slams into reverse ? Somethings wrong - No idea here :o
Shift from park to reverse or drive. Will not idle up till I hit a gear, then it idles up before going into gear. Will do the idle up before it will go into gear. Sorta like a delayed reaction. Best I can explain it. Just a very annoying problem.
