Angry 05 injector blew motor

Can someone tell me what the requirements or specs are for the injector extended warranty?. I just had an injector stick open, and flood the cylinder and oil pan with gas, which, destoyed the bearings and bent rods while trying to compress a liquid. I'm also concerned with whatever damage to emmision controls, catalytic convertors, etc.. has been done. My truck only had 63,000 miles and was meticulisly maintained.. I bought it new.

This really sucks they are not sure if ford will cover the repair , and said they will know more later in the week. If the motor has to be rebuilt, what type of warranty for the engine and all the parts that have to be removed and reinstalled.... ANY THOUGHTS?

If i'm not mistaking they (ford) only warranty the injector which is stupid because if the motor is fried because of the bad injector then a new injector is worhtless

Read that link and then do an advanced search on "injector warranty" . Others have had the problem. Sorry you are dealing with this and hope Ford comes through for you.

the recall covers the injector AND any damage as a result of the injector failing.

yes, please keep us posted. If you check out some of the threads that a search will bring up, you will see that some others have had success getting everything fixed.

I hope ford takes good care of you .. and dont leave too bad of a tast in your mouth.. I dont want to see you in a toyota.. if you dont keep your truck. I would hope an 08,09 will get you to the 250.000 mile mark. I think all the problems are fixed. any major problems come up with 07,08's?

If you end up eating the cost on the motor I'd suggest getting a new motor (not rebuilt) with the new plug design (important) from a place like http://www.powertrainproducts.net/ I've had really good luck with them before and recommend them heartily.

I think I got a NEW motor for 1750.00 bucks and did the install myself. I wouldn't tackle the install unless you have all the tools, an extra vehicle, and some spare cash layin around for some of the stuff you'll have to buy.

I would expect a local mechanic to charge you around 1000 bucks for labor if you bring them the motor.

Good luck!

11 years, 120,000 miles for injector failure and related damages. If an injector sticks, fills a cylinder with fuel and a rod comes out the side of the block, that's all covered.

Question

Just out of curiosity, my '05 gets very few miles (I'm sitting at just a tad over 1700 miles total right now) and my intent is to keep it forever. With this in mind, as I approach the end of the injector warranty, would it be advisable to consider going ahead and having all the injectors replaced just to prevent the possibility of this problem rearing its head down the road and after I am out of warranty?

When I had a bad injector I asked the Ford dealer how about replacing all incl. the plugs so I dont have to come back .. they told me then, regardless of what you read its not that commen with all the problems.but we are covered to 11 Years or 110.000 Miles on both plugs and Injectors.
Nice to know

If I owned an '05 that is DEFINITELY what I would do. Matter of fact I would buy the parts (making sure they had no relationship to the original bum Bosch injectors) and replace them now even. They aren't terribly expensive and then you wouldn't have to worry about sticking an injector open and blowing your engine far from home (plus, you have very low miles on your truck and even if it was under warrantee what you're going to get is a rebuilt engine, not a new one). Ford may call them "remanufactured" but they're still "rebuilt" and who knows what kind of a problem it had that caused it to have to be rebuilt. It's done by an outside rebuilder contracted by Ford and I have yet to see any of them melted down and recast so how is it "remanufactured"? The term "new" and "remanufactured" are used way too freely for my taste! They put a "remanufactured" trans. in my '99 F-150. It had a vibration in it the day I drove it home from the dealer, brand new. At 1800 mi. Ford put a trans that looked like it came out of a farm tractor. Bent pan and rusty pan bolts that looked like they were recovered from the Titanic. They (Ford) refused to replace it and the dealer waited 6 weeks until a new one came through the "remanufactured" system in order to accommodate me.

If you are the original owner you would have received a letter if you were covered. Run your vin # or have a dealer run it.
