The warranty only pertains to 05's with a 5.4. If mine last I'll change them at 120,000 miles.

Just an update, still without truck. I had to tow it to another dealer, the first dealer i was at didnt have the time to work on it, I wasn't a priority customer, because i didnt but the truck from that dealership. Wish they told me that when I first brought it in. Still waiting to find out the gameplan once they tear the motor apart. The dealers said Ford won't ok the repair bill until they verify the damage was caused by the injector.

I would be twisted-angry at this point. Please tell me you are going to call Ford Customer Service @ hdqrt'sWish they told me that when I first brought it in. Really feeling bad for you, that sucks, period.
Good luck with that mess.

This really sucks they are not sure if ford will cover the repair , and said they will know more later in the week. If the motor has to be rebuilt, what type of warranty for the engine and all the parts that have to be removed and reinstalled.... ANY THOUGHTS?
Did you experience any symptoms such as hard starting or weird random starting issues. My truck starts fine 95% of the time but every once in a while it take a second longer to fire up. I have been told its injectors sticking open.

the motor just went in my 2004 5.4l it only has 170k on it. I dont have warrenty so i didnt go to ford. the company who tore it apart said that the reason is becasue i had poor lubrication, even tho it just had an oil change 2k ago. They said that the cams were seized. and 2connecting rods broke. could this be caused by the injector problem?

just an update, I picked the truck up yesterday, no charge under customer satisfaction program 07M08. They replaced short block, it also looks like a new fuel rail was installed, but they only replaced two injectors. What bothered me though was how Ford wouldn't come out and say it was 100% covered for about 3.5 weeks. SO far the truck seems to run good. Time will tell. Anybody do an injector clean? is it worth it?

To Wreedkr... I didn't have any hard starts, about 3 months ago i had a small rough idle that lasted for about 30 seconds then never showed up again. It happened completely out of the blue, when i was on the expressway. Fwi truck is driven 75% hwy 25% city.

There is a place here in CNY that will do a sonic clean on fuel injectors, rebuild them, and then test them. My problem with that would be turn around time. I wouldn't want my truck tied up waiting for them to get done.
Anyway, Jbrew hooked me up with a seller on Ebay that does the same exact work and when reading their feedback, they come highly rated. I will be buying a set from them in the next couple of months and be changing them out this spring.

Here is his web page on Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/5-0-4...1%7C240%3A1318

He raised his price from 2 weeks ago $5.00

The cool thing is, he will buy your injectors from you when you get them changed out.
Anyway, I have been following your thread and I am very glad it worked out in the end for you.

I don't understand you said it had a small rough idle but then go onto say you were on the expressway? So did it happen at idle or at speed?

The reason I ask is because I had this same thing happen when I got home the other day. Pulled in the driveway and it felt like it was running on 6 cylinders. I put Amsoil injector cleaner in the next evening. Haven't had time to put a new filter on yet.

I think I know what you are talking about. My truck has like a hick-up when cranking then fires up and runs fine. this has only happened two times in the last 4,000 miles.

Actually pretty smooth, They replaced the drivers side catalytic converter, and the truck seems alot more responsive. So far so good..... ....

From: Georgia on my mind...
The fuel dumped by a sticking injector has to go somewhere. It dumps into the exhaust, superheating the converters and burning them up. Converter failure not long after a stuck injector isn't unusual.
