Starter problems starting to develop, more frequent

OK guys I have seem to always have had a problem where it will start smooth in the morning then I go run somewhere and say get gas or walk in a store for 10 to 15 minutes, come out and start the truck and the starter would tend to stumble/miss/have to try to start twice. This has begginning to happen more frequently this week. Anyone else have this problem? It seems to happen when the truck is hot. If I let it stil for a couple hours it will start smooth, hell it even starts smooth right after the bad start.

Anyway anyone ever heard of this? I am leaning towards the starter itself. I know my battery and electircal system is pretty much good. Battery voltage with engine off is 12.73. Havent checked during a start.

Battery voltage at idle should be at least 13.5.

Are you saying that the starter will keep turning and the engine won't? If so it's the starter drive that is bad. If you're talking about the 2007 in your heading and it's still under warranty, I would let the Ford garage deal with it.

SORRY! Let me correct myself. 12.73 is voltage when truck is shut off. Charging voltage when truck is running is in the lower 14s.

I prefer to investigate the issue first myself and by posting on here most of the time I find other members with the same problem. That way when I go to the service department I am well informed about the situation and can maybe even point them in the right direction.

Guys I have drove around all day and I found when I turn the key to the on position for a second then it starts starts smooth everytime. I have read some posts about a problem with the evap module on the fuel system that caused problems with fuel delivery when starting. could this be my problem?

when it does miss i am turning the key to start very fast giving it no time in the on position.

let me know what you guys think.

Does the start have a tendency to growl and not engage properly? Mine is doing that. If I turn the key off, it will normally start properly. I have heard ford has some problems with their starters for that year. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Mine is more of a motor stumble than a starter engaging inproperly.
