If it turns out to be the fan clutch I would get the Motorcraft one. Aftermarket fan clutches suck. I went down that road on another truck. I tried 4 or 5 different aftermarket fan clutches and my truck ran very hot with all of them. In the end the original was about $400 bucks, which I could not afford at the time, so I put on an aftermarket flex fan and ditched the clutch all together. I didn't like the flex fan much but it kept the truck cool and put the temp gauge back where it used to sit.

Too Loud

I replaced my fan clutch and it is way too loud. It is an aftermarket clutch. Cost me $100. I have never had a problem with cooling but I would really like electric fans. It has been nice and chilly here in northwest houston the past few days. When I drop the boy off at school in the morning the motor and exhaust sound so pretty. Then when I get up to temperature, it's all fan clutch noise.
Sucks. I mean blows, but you get the picture LOL.
