The motor swap includes a larger trans-cooler, and i already have a larger trans-pan as well.

Thanks for the replies.

UPDATE: the cab is off the frame and the original engine/trans were out on Friday Oct, 24.

PHP is taking pictures for me as they go along, but i have yet to give them my email. I am going to try and get a hold of them Monday to email me the pics - then i can post them.

And the stal converter is going to be 2,500 for the trans.

Sorry i have not posted pictures, the person responsible for that is at the Sema show along with the camera.

Transmission rebuild/build was completed & mated to the motor, along with the new body mount bushings with the body installed back on the frame.

The engine was started and fired right up - they called me and started it over the phone so i could hear it

The only issue so far is intercooler. If installed in the factory lightning position, it hangs down about 2" from the factory 4x4 valance. If installed 2" above the original lightning position to clear the valance, they said it will not get the proper air-flow.

To the guys with the lightning engines - What are you doing as far as how the intercooler mounts behind the stock bumper/valance?

I think the factory 97 and 98 year model has the larger front bumper then the 99 to 03 trucks. I would like to hear from Bigtruck and see where he put his?

You should get plenty of air with it behind the stock front valence.
I put a Lightning bumper cover on mine.
If your that worried about it and have the money,,,you could get this!

I'm not sure if i mentioned but they are trying to install an Afco dual pass heat exchanger, which i suppose is quite a bit bigger than the stock lightning piece - which is why we are having issues tucking it up underneath the valance.

They are going to see if there is anyway to modify the valance or mounting point to accept the larger intercooler. If not i may have to buy an aftermarket valance that is larger to hide the intercooler, unfortunately.

I would just find a bumper like mine and Built54's. It should have plenty of room and still look right on your 4X4. The Lightning bumper has more of a ground effects look. I just don't think that it would look right on your lifted truck. That's my 2 pennies.

i mounted my heat exchanger up higher because i have a winch, perhaps you'd try dry fitting it in front of the condenser and radiator directly behind the grille?

The dyno sheet (not the final tune) 353 RWHP and 438 RWTQ @ just under 12 psi

http://zabeard.com/mark/d/584-1/DynoSht.jpg

I am a little unhappy with the dyno numbers, but its not a lightning and i am pushing 35" tires with 4.56 gears through a humongo transfer case and it is a BRAND new motor, it still needs a break in period. Hopefully the final tune will be better.

I am waiting on this Cervinis Hood

https://www.cervinis.com/Files/Image..._(450x329).jpg

To be custom painted (Mercury Gray) along with the grillshell.

The lower valance is also going to be painted oxford white to match the truck.

Paul is putting miles on the truck to try and break in the motor before the final dyno run, after the hood, grillshell, and valance is painted, i should have the truck next week before thanksgiving.
