My lightning swap project thread, pics and info!

Here is my DD truck, its a 2000 F150 4x4 with a 6" Fabtech, 4.56 gears, etc. It has over 150,000 TOWING miles and was dyno'd last spring with 220 RWHP.

And here is the brand new ford racing 2003 lightning crate motor. These pics are when we first picked it up last summer.

And here it is after the dust was removed and some fresh paint applied! The block, heads, timing cover, etc, were treated with high temperature clear coat to prevent corrosion from Michigan winters.

I am also having my 4r70w built at the same time the motor goes in. The truck gets dropped off at the shop this wednesday. I will have updates as time goes on. Shooting for 450-500 HP at the crank, should be interesting!

The swap is being done at Pauls High Performance in Jackson, MI. They acted like 500 HP would be a simple task with the lightning motor. To achieve it, a single blade 90mm TB, CAI, Afco Dual pass heat exchanger, and 2.80" supercharger pulley is going to be used. I already have long tube headers, high flow cats, and a 3" exhaust. Paul was voted in the top 5 best tuners in the country, his dyno tune will be the final factor in the total output.

From start to finish they acted like it will take 3 weeks to a month. I hope to have it before December.

Your gonna Love it when this thing gets Done!!!!
I took mine to the track last night for the first time. I beat an 80's Monte Carlo SS with a small turbo and an 07 GTO 6.0L. Right after I beat the Carlo I went back to the staging lanes and I saw him leave the track! I didn't blame him since he had just gottin beat by a 4X4 Truck! Then I was waiting to race one of the Chevy trucks that were there and none of them would come back to the staging lanes. But, then a guy pulled up in a GTO and said, "Let's see what that Supercharger's got!". WELL....... I guess you could say I let him see it!! The track we were at is where we race our racing four wheelers because it is only a 1000FT. I was mainly racing the quad so I only ran the truck twice. The best time was when I took the GTO. He ran 12.31sec@86.21mph. I ran 11.73@92.36mph. I can't wait to take it to our other track and run the quarter.
HAPPY HORSEPOWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nice engine, Nice truck

*edit* I'd swap out the rods before it goes in, the rods are the weak link in the SVT engines

Thanks for the comments everyone.

SVT F150 4x4 - Can you tell me all your mods since i see you have 381 RWHP? That is getting close to 460ish at the crank - which is right around my goal.

I am eager to drop the truck off and get the swap started!

But with 17 PSI, correct? Thats around 575 at the crank, quite a bit more than i will probably have.

IIRC, they said they would set my Eaton at around 12-14 PSI. I told them i would like to get the "most" out of the engine as possible - since i am paying to have it done, i want it done right the first time.

wigginwilly had a whipple 3.4 @ 16psi on a stock "forged" long block and yielded 507rwhp and it tossed a factory "forged" rod. He's building a replacement motor for his lightning now.

I'd be leary of the stock rods but I wish you the best and hope they hold out

I can't wait to see the truck in action with some power (excellent choice in grills)

Thanks for the heads up. Those numbers are quite a bit more than what i will be asking for though

I trust Paul and his workers, they really know their stuff. I specifically told him i wanted good power with reliability and they acted like this was no problem.

I forgot to mention, my trans (4r70w) is going to be PHP race prepped with a multi-disc torque converter, safe built for 500+ HP.
