Nah, I don't think so - Nothing major as far as power. The Type 3's WILL give you a smoother idle. Maybe smoother acceleration @ lower RPM's. They are an overall a better design -IE~"Spray Pattern", but deliver the same 19 lbs the originals did. No performance/mileage gains IMO. If there is, it's small. I purchased them simply because I needed new ones @ 185,000 miles.

Ford did away with the previous design, so that tells you something right there. ( :

Problem : The truck feels like a slug. Feels heavy w/no power.

It's either a combination of things (most likely) - or just something lacking/ not up to par.

What seems to work and makes the difference is -

1. MC plugs

2. Full COP swap. (purchase the V10 kit if you can find one)

3. Injector update.

4. fuel filter

5. MAF Cleaning.

6. Throttle body and plenum cleaning.

You do all that and your truck will feel quick and responsive, like a different truck completely.

Make sure you do EVERY procedure correctly. Investigate, it will pay off.

BTW - Ebay is your best friend here. De- Tune before you start.

1)This is going to sounds retarded, but what is COP??
2)I was told not to clean the TB and plenum, cuz that is what ford put in there to protect them, that it will hurt your motor if you take it out.
3)MC plugs I am going to do next week with a brake job.
4)Will a 90mm MAF from a lighting work on my truck? If so will I notice any diference??
5)Are UD Pullys hard to install?
6) Everything else will have to come when I get more $$$$$.
7) Thanks for everyones replys and helpful advice. Nice to know there are still people out there that will help another.

1.) COP = Coil over plug. You have 8 dedicated coils(one per cylinder) - It's Fords high tech ignition system - cough cough . Well, it's not that bad once you know all the tricks. The inexpensive way to update is to do it thru Global Auto. Most of us here have done this once it's warranted and IF you have the 97-03 model years.

COP -

What you want from Global Automotive -

2.) Never mind all that - Just read this - https://www.f150online.com/forums/en...ttle-body.html AND THIS - http://www.fordf150.net/howto/throttlebodyclean.php

3.) That's all good as long as you do , indeed, use Motorcraft Plugs. But that won't help the problem enough IMO.

4.) Absolutely not - Clean yours and reboot - here's a how to - http://www.fordf150.net/howto/clean-...low-sensor.php - I'll mention again, this could be your root problem, specially if your running an oiled filter element. This sensor, when dirty can cause the same symptoms that you are experiencing. If cleaning properly and rebooting to reset pram/tables doesn't work then everything else applies. Do this first!!! - Just fricken do it and post the results

5.) - Now that's a good Mod - Waterman can help you there when your ready. But I suggest you - again get her running good first and follow suggestion.

6. & 7.) No problem , but you need to listen up here. You asked the question and most of what needs to done with what you want to accomplish doesn't cost all that much, just a little elbow grease. Stop adding things for now and just get her right first and go from there.
