Just took my truck up to beaver,ut from vegas about 240 miles. Its up and down through the mtns. And the best i got was 14.2 mpg. Does this sound right?? I have a 2.5 as kit and 315/70/17's on my truck. That is corrected milage cause acorrding to the odometer it got 12 something!!

On a 4800 mile trip last summer from Louisiana to Montana/Wyoming and back, my carefully recorded average mileage for the whole trip was 20.9 mpg.

On the return leg only, Wyoming to Louisiana, I averaged 21.9 mpg...of course that was downhill the whole way...it's downhill to Louisiana from just about anywhere

I averaged about 16.5 on the trip to Yellowstone last week. I didnt drive like a grandpa or anything. I was happy with that. in the winter pulling my snowmobiles I get about 12.

What is "normal" for your truck is going to be unique. I live in Salt Lake City and have driven down to St George in the summer. I get about 16mpg on the highway and my friend just got the same from SLC to Vegas and back.

Take what you normally get and add or subtract a mpg or two and if 14 is in that range, it's normal.

my dads 06 f350 has a 5.4 4x4 automatic. he's got a superchips flashpaq in it and going through the mountains in virginia we were getting 16 mpg towing a 16ft enclosed trailer at anywheres from 70-95 mph depending on what type of traffic we were hitting and who was driving. the trailer had around 3000lbs in it plus 7 people inside the truck.

my truck seems to have gotten low mileage compared to alot of you guys and thats even before i did anything to it. i also forgot to mention that i was doing 75-80 almost the whole way. Its also 2wd, 5.4 and has 3.73's and a tonneau cover

What rpm is everyone running at when they cruise at 80mph?

running higher speeds will dramiticaly drop your mileage. try going 65-70

I see low 20s high 19s @ 65-70

I didnt know the speed effected these trucks as much as it does. But what would keep my city mileage down so low? i average 11.1-12.5 with a best of 13.1. I usually keep it under 2k and no more than 55mph.

What can i do to increase my mileage besides a tuner or chip?? I have a k&n and it didnt do anything. Would doing my exhaust help any?

k&n intake or just filter? filter dont do much. exhaust will help a little bit depending on what setup you get.

Exactly!

I've never seen those kinds of numbers, but easing off the gas pedal, over a prolonged period of time, will dramatically increase your MPG.

It's a no-brainer.... really.

Its just the filter. Ive been thinking of getting a whole kit but cant decide which brand. Ive also read all the stories of them making the truck run lean.

What can i do to help out with mileage??

o bye that way if u add up gas prices for what u pay now and how much all this will coast you. it will come out the same for the 1st year.
