are all supercrews with the 4.6 like this?
My 99 4six wouldnt touch 5000rpm unless...well it didnt. Its not the engine that cant handle it the speed, its the torque convertor...which if Im not mistaken is the same one thats in the 4.6 trucks assuming its the 4r70w. 4.6 doesnt have enough ballz to need the 4r100Even if the 5.4 shifts at 4900 RPM stock, it will still blow the doors off a 4.6

You make so many comments about the 4.6 rapping up faster and higher and how the 5four has a longer stroke so its bad for making power or whatever you always say....yet a 5.4 has more power, and always will, than a 4.6....hmm.
Someday you guys will see the light...and realize the 5.4 is much better if you want to make power and go fast. I did, and Im damn glad.
Think how much further ahead you guys would be with all your mods if you had the 5.4 instead of the 4.6...
I have a 98 NPI 4.6 that loves to pick on the "new" 5.4 3v and embarass the "new" 4.6 3v, and then they cry weight, and mine weighs 5900 full tank and nothing but me in it, so the 200ish lbs should not slow down the 80hp/100tq adavantage of the 5.4 3v to my 4.6 NPI 2v(220hp/265tq factory) The last guy was upset when his FX4 5.4 Ext. Cab w/ intake, exhaust, tuner was left sitting by my 4.6, and I even had a 300lb buddy in the truck to even the weight out
And my stock block 151,xxx mile 4.6 loves the 5800rpm redline and the shifts at 5600, my buddies tuned lightning never saw 5500.

Seems like they never see the light fast enough, there always left sitting there..
Maybe there slow thinkers and now you just asked them to think again Bartak..
Hope you can wait 2 days for an answer - they can be just as slow as there trucks
didnt know this thread was going to get everyone all riled up haha..
i'm not griping about the motor.. i dont care for a race truck.. just curious if they were all like this.. i got this truck CHEAP CHEAP so it could have a 4 cylinder in it and i wouldnt mind.. i got it for looks..
i have a 2000 regular cab chevy silverado thats bagged and body dropped so when i wanna go fast i drive that..

I have to chime in, my old 99 F150, was the 4.6L 4x2, K&N FIPK2 and Flowmaster 40 Series Delta flow, my new truck, 2004 5.4L 4x4, with only a Volant intake on it....... 5.4L considerably faster, but I love them both..... 5.4 any day over the 4.6...... That 4.6 will run though my dad is driving my old truck and he loves it even with 136,000 miles on it, but he is used to driving his 94 3.0L Ranger with 170K miles on it...... as long as it is FORD who cares..... as to the original thread.. Supercrew with the 4.6L..... that is a lot of weight on that motor IMO, intake, programmer, and exhaust would def help it out
My girlfriend has a 2001 Screw with the 4.6, and it's pleasant enough to drive. She used to pull a double horse trailer with it several times a month, too. Not to say it's speedy, but it get's there, WITH the gear. OTOH, the first time she drove mine (2000 SuperCab 4x4 Off Road 5.4 - bone stock), she immediately noticed the difference in power.
Even a girl knows the 5.4 is stronger!

Theres no replacement for displacement. Obviously the 5.4l is going to be stronger/quicker/ect. Doesn't necessarily mean its a better engine though.
As for me, I really wouldn't trade in my 4.6l. Its not so much the engine... its just the entire truck I love. Starts everyday, never runs funny, and I've got more knowledge of the 4.6l from my mustang experience then I do about the 5.4l in case anything goes wrong. On top of that, I wont have to deal with the sparkplug issue which to me can be considered a fairly big hinging factor on buying a 04-07 5.4l.
The best way to experience the difference is to drive both... preferably near the same year. I get to do this almost everyday. The 2005 4.6l is my daily driver, the 2006 5.4l is my work truck. Its a large difference stock. Now that the 4.6l is lightly modded (Intake, exhaust, custom tunes, UDP's soon) I don't notice that difference anymore... in fact the 4.6l feels 10x better at high RPM then the 5.4l, but remember, the 5.4l is stock.
To wrap this all up, I'm really sick of these threads that turn into bashing 5.4l vs. 4.6l. Yes, we all know the 5.4l is faster. We all have Fords though... and that should be what brings us together. You guys need to use all this energy to bash Tundras or something.

Can't wait to fire up my Gerbil powered truck
I've been busy ,so I havent finished the exhaust on my 97 F150 ext cab 4.6L DOHC (2004 motor) most definitly getting the Lightning blower I previously had on my Expeditions 5.4.
Somehow I DON"T think getting on the highway will be any problem at all. A 4400lb truck pushing an easy 400-450hp supercharged, and I'm being VERY conservative.

i think its the noise... that scares them off
